The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage care services to improve.
The CQC carry out inspections and publish reports on the quality of care provided by services. Reports give a rating for each of the five key questions that the CQC ask about services:
Are they safe?
Are they effective?
Are they caring?
Are they responsive to people’s needs?
Are they well-led?
The CQC also publish an overall rating for the service based on their findings from the five key questions. This overall rating can be either Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement or Inadequate.
You can find copies of CQC reports on their website.
