The 3 types of CQC inspections are announced, unannounced, and targeted.
Announced inspections give the provider advance notice of the inspection. This allows the provider to prepare for the inspection and gather any necessary documentation.
Unannounced inspections are conducted without giving the provider any notice. These inspections are used to get a true picture of the care being provided and to ensure that staff are following policies and procedures.
Targeted inspections are conducted when the CQC has received specific information or complaints about a certain issue. These inspections are used to investigate the issue and to ensure that appropriate action is being taken.
