CQC changing from 1 October. Could you please tell me the key changes I should be concentrating on?

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is changing how it monitors, inspects and regulates adult social care services in England from 1 October 2019.

The new approach will mean that we:
• work more flexibly with local authorities and other care system regulators
• focus more on quality than process
• work in a more targeted way, spending more time in places that need us most
• work more collaboratively with providers, patients and the public.

What does this mean for providers?

The main change for providers is that we will be focusing more on quality than process. This means that we will be looking at the outcomes that people experience, rather than just checking that services are compliant with the regulations.

We will also be working more collaboratively with providers, patients and the public, so that we can learn from each other and identify where improvements need to be made.

What does this mean for patients and the public?

The main change for patients and the public is that we will be focusing more on quality than process. This means that we will be looking at the outcomes that people experience, rather than just checking that services are compliant with the regulations.

We will also be working more collaboratively with providers, patients and the public, so that we can learn from each other and identify where improvements need to be made.

The main change for local authorities is that we will be working more flexibly with them and other care system regulators. This means that we will be focusing on the quality of care, rather than just checking that services are compliant with the regulations.
